Pelvic & SI Joint Pain

Sacroiliac joint or SI joint pain is pain in the joints where the lower spine joins the pelvis. SI joint pain can refer pain into the glutes and legs. It is usually one sided but sometimes affects both sides.

Signs and symptoms of a SIJ injury or dysfunction include:
  • pain when sitting or standing for long periods
  • pain when changing positions
  • increased pain when turning or rotating your hips 
  • pain while standing on one leg 
  • you may feel constant pain or sharp stabbing pain 
  • pain and/or stiffness when sleeping 
  • pain into the glutes or leg 
  • one sided hip pain
  • numbness or tingling into the glute muscle
  • glute weakness 
  • groin pain & pelvic pain

Pelvic pain can present as pain in your pubic bone and/ or tailbone. It can be sharp and stabby or dull and achy. The tailbone may be tender when you are sitting. 

Signs and symptoms of pelvic pain include: 
  • groin pain
  • tailbone pain
  • pain after falling on tailbone
  • pain with sitting
  • pain into glutes 
  • pelvic health signs or symptoms (incontinence, urgency, pain with intercourse) 
  • numbness or tingling into groin 

SI joint and pelvic pain may be caused by a fall, overuse injuries, tight or weak muscles, poor posture or work ergonomics, arthritis, sports injury, car accident, or pregnancy. Our practitioners are trained to help alleviate pelvic and SI joint pain and will treat the root cause to the pain.
