Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is the degeneration or breakdown of cartilage or other structures in the joint. Aging is a common cause of degeneration. It can also be caused by repetitive overuse and trauma to the joints.
Total joint replacements: total knee and hip replacements are a common surgical treatment to severe osteoarthritis or degeneration.
Signs and symptoms of frozen shoulder osteoarthritis include:
- pain in the affect joint
- swelling in a joint
- clicking or popping in a joint (crepitus)
- joint stiffness worse in the morning or when sitting or standing for long periods
- loss of flexibility
- bone spurs
- tenderness
- decreased strength
- difficulty walking or using the limb
- a joint looking different than the other
